The City of Annandale offers a wide variety of services to its residents. These include recreation, transportation and public works. It is important to learn more about all the city has to offer and how you can get involved.

Recreation Park

The City of Alexandria has 18 parks and greenways for residents and visitors to enjoy. These include greenways, designed parks, picnic areas, and natural open space. In addition, the City has several parks that are managed by the Fairfax County Park Authority.

Some of the parks operated by the City of Alexandria are Lake Accotink, Mill Creek Park, Backlick Park, Willow Woods Park, and Valley Crest Park. The Fairfax County Public Library is also a popular attraction.

The Parks for People Plan was approved by the City Council on February 23, 2015. This plan replaces Chapter 6 of the Comprehensive Plan. It sets priorities for park and open space projects. Another major project is the replacement of water lines that are 85 years old. These pipes are in need of replacing and the Department of Public Works is in the process of doing so. It is estimated that this project will be finished in 2006.
